New stuff.

So here's an article that I thought I would share.

And also be on the lookout for http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390384/
If time travel were possible. I think it would be just this confusing. I'm really interested in thoughts on this one.

I watched Primer a month ago... then I watched it again. Then I got out a piece of paper and tried to figure out just what the crap I was watching. I think I’ve got it all figured out now and have done my best to explain it all to friends. (The dude made it on a budget of $7000. Each scene was done in one take. In fact I believe that only 2 min was removed from the final film.) Anyway, if you ever watch it and want a detailed explanation of just "what crap was that all about", I'm there for ya.

Okay, so here is a quick list of things to keep in mind while watching Primer.... BTW if you just want to watch it and figure it out on your own... DON'T READ THIS... as these are clues to what is REALLY happening.

1. What you are watching (after they invent the time machine) is NOT the first timeline but the second.

2. The film takes place from ABES POV. NOT Aaron as you might be inclined to think.

3. The narration is done by the Aaron "that leaves" (I refer to him as Aaron 2)

4. In this view of time travel... there are NO PARADOXES. (Aaron alludes to this in the film) They can't or simply don't happen... which is where the crazy confusion that is Primer comes from.

There is more... TONS more. But this is enough to get those wheels turning. Perhaps when more of you see it I'll post more about it. :P

So how to fix the social problem?

I think high school was different for us, but middle school was torture for me. I picked up a ton of bad habits, got in lots of fights, and felt generally miserable.

So was it our own social structure that helped us through high school? Just that we could sit outside of the crap and see the group for what it was? I think that it was mostly Stan that helped me with that.

Get your kids good friends and hope for the best? Or do we arm up and fight for a change of some kind. It can be done, think back on the Sr. Prom song incidence or telling Mr Eaton that he was wrong for yelling at us in the assembly etc... If anyone can change things, I really think it would be us.

Good article Rog.

One of the things, towards the end of the article, that was brought up was that kids need a purpose. Something that they can do and learn that matters. I did the drama thing, you guys had the movies, and most of us did some computer wizardry. But we learned good skills that gave us confidence around adults. So we were less inclined to be cowed by our peers. Apparently I'm famous amongst the younger classes for my general anti-school govt. antics.

But the point is I think our kids will be better if by the fact that we've all been there and seen how pointless the middle/high school experience is.

Just watched Primer last night... what a head trip. I am going to watch it again (with Curtis' primer to Primer) to see what else I can glean from it.
