Make sure you add this to your Christmas List

You must do either of two things:

Buy this or put this on your Christmas list.

I have done both.

Whispers from the void...

Lost my job at Xcelus... took me two weeks to find work here. Using my online resume, which you can find here. Speaking of dreams last night I dreamt that Taylor and I went with our wives and my mom to a big party/performance in a large versi-esk palace. We sat in the balcony and after the string quartet finished their first piece... a DJ gets up and yells "Okay ladies its time to get your freak aun!" Then the rap music/ techno base stuff starts up and our wives look over at us and tell us we have to look away for the next part cause its a wet t-shirt contest. I couldn't have been more confused... why would our wives take us to this... why would they do this in the middle of a classical concert... etc.  So I spent the next literally 15 minuets looking at the floor while I hear "SPALSH..." and the girlish screams of "Ahhhh... thats cold". The floor tiles were dark wood with intricate lattice work. I looked over at Taylor who now has turned into Tyler... (no idea why) Tyler is looking out the window... apparently just as confused as I am... he gives me a look like... what is going on... I shrug and the music ends... when I finally brave a look up I see that we have been staring at the floor so long that everyone has left the building and the event is over. I then awoke- marveling at the fact that I just had a dream which consisted of me literally staring at the floor for a quarter of an hour.

Dream Interpretations:

It has been a while since I have shared my wonderful nightly excursions with you, so here is the latest:
My parents built a big place on a giant floating apartment block. Half of it was inside, and half was sitting out on a huge deck. (the tv and stuff was all outside.) It started to rain so my mom offered to take us to "the races." These turned out to be modified riding lawnmowers on an old roller coaster track. The leader of the race suddenly turned around and started to race back up the hill against the other racers. This was because he saw that the floating apartment thing was sinking into the ocean. We ran inside just as it flipped completely upside down, trapping us about 40 feet underwater. We hustled back up above the water level to look for food, where a guy with two long sticks came at us saying he was going to chop off our hands with them so he could "be a Congo giant." Shaha (who is in Iraq) looked at me knowingly and pulled out a Desert Eagle and handed it to me. It clicked 3 times as I held it all akward, and Shaha snatched it back and pointed it toward his face (not at it, but close). He fired off a round and looked at me kinda stunned then nodded like "oh yeah" the shot the guy.

Any takers?

I am just gonna send a few of these songs via email. my computer crashes on box.net.

The Youth somehow know...

A little girl, that I have never seen before, was sitting in front of me in church on Sunday. She turned around in the pew and looked at me with big blue eyes and quietly said "B is for buffalo."

Yes, yes it is, and may it forever be so.

Chris Farley is med school, and his little pet is my life.

I can't remember how to upload potentially awesome music... any help?

I couldn't say it any better.

So I been watching the markets fall with a really twisted sense of glee.
This article pretty much sums up what I've been thinking though.

A chance for repentance...

Due to inclement weather, the most awesome camping trip has been postponed.
We are thinking about doing something in two weeks.
You are all now given a chance to repent and get your priorities in proper alignment.
Any suggestion are welcome.

Possibilty of not sucky new music

I think the White Stripes aren't as horrible as most new stuff. Check them out. I will upload a few of their songs in a day or so here, I don't have the time now. Also a few very lesser known Zeppelin songs that I have really been enjoying. How did the reunion go, for any that might have gone?

Reunion details

Pine View 1998ers—

As posted on both the class website (pineview1998.com) and blog, our 10 year reunion is set to be held on September 26th and 27th. Here are the details on what we are doing:

Friday, September 26th, 7 pm
Pine View High School football game vs. Hurricane High School.

We are inviting everyone to come to the game at PVHS on Friday night. We will have a special section reserved for 1998 alumni and may tour the ol’ high school before the game to see some of the changes that have taken place (I understand things look a lot different). The game should provide a nice informal setting to catch up with those you haven’t seen in a while. Spouses/kids are welcome or you may want to simply come on your own.

Saturday, September 27th, 8:30 am
Pancake breakfast at Nisson Park (in Washington)

A fun event intended for everyone—especially the kids. Bring extra blankets or chairs if you have them to sit on. Breakfast will be served from 9 to 10 am.

Saturday, September 27th, 6:30 pm
Dinner/program at the Staheli Catering Town Hall.

This is for classmates and spouses/significant others. We will have a Dutch oven dinner, a short movie, and an even shorter program.

Please RSVP for the pancake breakfast and the class dinner by going to the class website and clicking on the 10 year reunion tab. Fill out the info on how many of your family members will be coming with you.

Right now we are anticipating to simply charging $25 per person for Saturdays dinner, which should be enough to also cover the cost of Saturday’s breakfast. We don’t want money to deter anyone coming, so please let us know if you can’t afford it and we’ll simply hit up John Mizukawa for the difference.

What can you do to help? The single biggest area where we could use help is in contacting everyone from the class of 1998. If you look at the classmate profiles page of the www.pineview1998.com website you can see pretty easily whose information we have. Right now, we have information on 110 classmates. On the flip side, there are 239 classmates we haven’t been able to contact. Please take the time to look through the class list and figure out who you know that hasn’t been contacted yet. Tell them about the class website or use the website to email them an invite (by clicking on their name). I’ll be contacting some of you directly to ask for your help in contacting people.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to help out with the reunion events.

Looking forward to seeing everyone—

Mark Madsen

Lets party like its 2008!

I've got a fever... a fever for more Kolob.

I don't know how the rest of the Clan feels, but I would like to try to setup another night at the Kabin. I'm thinking it won't be possible till late September or October... but is there any interest in doing another guy's night...OR was the last one too recent.

What's your thoughts?

Monday, July 28, 2008

A challenge to myself, and tribute to the Clan:

I, Tyler, being of sound body and mind at the time of this writing do hearby vow to listen to all the Pearl Jam albums, in order, no songs skipped, during my exodus. I find this to be in keeping with precedent and in good (rocking) taste. I will however pretend that "Binaurl" never happened... as should most people. Any leftover time will be devoted to Led Zepplin.

You may all check my family blog for any other trip related antics. As many antics as Kansas will allow I guess.

Poll Issues?

Everytime there is a poll on this blog I am unable to vote. When I click the submit button I get a broken link. Anybody else have this issue? Anyway, my vote is for The Dark Knight because it kicked butt.

National Commercials

I know some of you guys were into paintball so I thought you might want to check out these national adds I did. Which is to say I did all of the graphics and compositing work. I believe both spots aired on Fox Sports. The director is a respected x-paintball guy from Dynasty. I've done a few more with him... one of which mimmics a scene from the film 300... i'll get a link to that one as soon as we can put it up. Anyway, the first add is for Monsterballs and was super hard and fun all at the same time. The second one involved keying out whats his face and adding in stuff to make it edgy. Maybe i'll blog about it some time... anyway- enjoy.

A few things:

Anyone know where one could watch any of the Office episodes? Does such a place exsist?

I will be leaving this side of the states at 4 a.m. Wed-ness-day the 30th. Anything that I am forgetting to do before I go?

Also, I like facebook. Lots of little games and good way to keep in touch with those around. Most of you are there already, those who are not, you may want to look into it.

You need to watch this too.

Watch this.
http://www.drhorrible.com/
It is a new internet episodic show that is being produced/directed by Joss Whedon and has Nathan Fillion in it (the Firefly people)
There are three acts.
It will be taken down July 20th. You must act now.

(KT and I are already hooked.)

Why so serious?

Saw this movie.
It is as good as this movie--if not better.
You should see it too.
Like right now.
No really, GO.

A MAN CHILD!

Sure as shootin', the next Warner has a kick-stand. Fianally, an hier to my throne...

The Void

With the exception of a few post here I haven't really had the ganas to talk to the clan. I'm still really upset about missing out on the cabin. I know it's not anyone’s fault... it was spectacularly bad timing for something spectacularly bad to happen... I'm just filled with an unholy rage about the whole thing. Furthermore, it seams that the universe has decided to prevent me from doing ANYTHING with the clan. Some sort of cosmic damnation or something. I'll figure it out after I expend whatever powers I have left to defeat the money monster that is now playing dark, twisted games with my once faithful sidekick wallet-man. Anyway, yes Tracy has moved to Daybreak and can be contacted by all the usual means. He is working on some cool stuff, none of which I can talk about... as usual. And I’m still not sure just what’s going on with the "Dragons of the Hour Glass Mage" book... it's the only one of the new books I’ve really felt a desire to read... sigh... stupid publishing world is messed up and evil.
Curtis

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Where is Tracy?

Curtis, where is your family? I have a book that a guy gave me for your dad to sign. How might I get in contact with him?
I moved into the ward up there and met a guy that was calling his son "Fistan". Later I learned that is short for Fistandantilus. So I figured I can at least get a book signed for him.

How are you anyway?

New stuff.

So here's an article that I thought I would share.

And also be on the lookout for http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390384/
If time travel were possible. I think it would be just this confusing. I'm really interested in thoughts on this one.

Update

Just wanted make you guys aware of a couple things. First, we are no longer pregnant. Everything is fine though. Second, Rylan is lucky enough to go in for surgery in a week or so. The Doc wants to take out his adenoids. I guess they are pretty infected and swollen. I'm sure some good news will pop up eventually, then I'll post that.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Do not update!

For those that have a Wii, and have not as of yet, installed the "Homebrew Channel", DO NOT INSTALL THE LATEST WII UPDATE!

The new Wii update prevents use of the Twilight Princess Hack... which you need to install the Homebrew.

For more info check here.

On a side note: I just got a Wii Classic Controller and it works beautifully with the SNES emulator.

Calling all movies

The official request from our most unagreeable high school dictator of class for any and all assembly videos has come to my inbox. Who has what and how can we give it to (hate, punch, spit on) Mark?

Breaking news

There's a giant blizzard that is moving in to the outskirts of hell. The news is reporting that they are evacuating the residents using flying pigs.

In a related story. Pine View high school class of 1998 is actually going to have a 10-year reunion.

"Brake It"

So... Rylan Falls backwards out of a window and falls 2 feet to the concrete and breaks his collarbone. When asked if he is ok he says "neck hurts". When asked what happened he says "break it" with some emphasis on "break". He is doing fine. (drugs are good)

On another note, Taylor, where do we get Sun Butter?

Very interesting article.

This is an interesting article that I found on reddit. His outlook on life is actually very refreshing.

Robot Chicken Star Wars

Here is a link to that Robot Chicken episode that parodied Star Wars I mentioned at the Kabin. Just so you know it does get a little "PG" at times... just a little warning.

Details!

Dave and I will be leaving around 12:30 and driving straight to the cabin. On the way we will stop by a food store to buy... socks. Anyway, we need to know what sort of food we should get with our socks. I presume that the BYOM rule is still in effect. I'm sure Wallmart will have a fine selection of B grade steak to choose from. However, we do need to decide who is bringing Pepsi (caffeine free of course... yes were old... and several you are attempting to be doctors so you should know better... unfortunately its too late for Tyler who has consumed twice the life time amount of the cancerous substance in his youth) Anyway, getting back to the point... DETAILS! Let’s figure this out... who is arriving when... and what are you bringing/ what should they bring.
If you read this too late... call someone- one of us will know what the plan is.

Wii Friends

For all those that have a Wii, I suggest we exchange Wii info to become "Wii Friends."
To gather this info:
1) First go to the "Wii Message Board" (the envelope in the bottom right corner)
2) Click on the "Create Message" Icon (paper and pencil icon)
3) Then click on your "Address Book"
4) Here it will list your Wii's Number, write that down.
5) Click on "Register"
6) "Wii"
7) Then enter Wii number to register as a friend, for example " 4145 2030 0791 9362" will add me as a Wii friend...

Please post your Wii Numbers here so I can add you.

Cabin Follow-Up

Just so we are clear on what's happening on the weekend of May 30th. My assumption is the guys will go up Friday night and stay over till Saturday early to mid afternoon or so. Then we can plan family activities Saturday afternoon/evening or something.

Suggestions? Comments? Changes?

Firefly... Book's secrets

"... Ron and Joss did us the great honor of revealing some of Book’s secrets."

1. Part of Book is artificial - “and it’s not the hair!”
2. He found God in a soup bowl
3. He is best known for his greatest failure
4. He took his name from someone he killed.

Pearl Jam reteams with producer O'Brien

http://www.reuters.com/article/musicNews/idUSN0231635120080503
This sounds MUCH more promising. With the exception of one or two songs... i have to say PJ hasn't impressed me much since Yield... but perhaps this is a sign that are about to emerge from the half hearted void of doom. Time will tell.

Technology is cool

Have you guys seen this? http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=933742930 Its pretty cool.

Cabin Cont.

So Bonnie and I are actually planning on the last weekend of May. If that needs to change then we should get it out right now. Especially if there is some form of weekend that Shaun could make it, but that is sounding like it ain't gonna happen.

Raid night with Visionary! So much fun!!!

Cabin Night (cont.)

Ah crap. Sorry, I am retarded. I have to fly to a conference in Texas near the end of June to present a research paper I have been working on with the senior design team. So most likely I can't make June.

Cabin night

First off, congratulations all around for graduation, moving etc. etc. It looks like the Clan as a whole is doing well. I got a kick from reading all of the blog postingses.

Secondly, I am not dead, contrary to popular belief I still in fact do exist. For those that have called me and I haven't made it back, I'm terribly sorry things are uber busy around here this quarter. My office down in the laboratory bowels of OSU has horrible reception, honestly my phone sometimes delivers phantom messages and voicemails weeks after they actually occur.
Please keep trying to summon me from the void!!!

A little news from over on the west side: I'm going to try and propose to Beth this week if I can actually get away from work for a day or two, which is pretty exciting. I'm stoked and nervous at the same time to say the least. I imagine she'll say yes though since she has been waiting for oh, a few months or so - we're still pretty crazy for each other (surprised she hasn't killed me yet).

As soon as we manage to set a date, I'll keep you guys posted, although we really want to keep it super small because we are but shy nerds. Also trying to get honeymoon plans in order, I have enough saved up so we can take off for Fiji for a week or so (tentatively at the end of August, first of Septemberish). =D

I have about a year and a half left to finish my Ph. D. This summer I have to study my butt off for the qualification exam in the coming fall. If they let me past that stage I will have a soul again and be able to work on my own thesis research. Right now it looks like I will be doing something on optimizing renewable energy extraction and interfacing/power quality controls with the utility grid. This could change depending on how draconic Linear Systems 550 turns out to be, but I am excited there too. Hopefully next quarter I get to work with optical communications and beam some signals over lasers in typical mad scientist fashion. Ah, the life of the perpetual student.

Cabin night in June would definitely be fun, however Beth and I have class until mid-June and I can't take a lot of time from work due to the honeymoon week but maybe we can work something out. We need a good round of potatoes, Pepsi and D&D for old times sake.

Lastly, if you guys are interested in doing some fantasy type gaming, Beth and I are still playing Warcrack after hours and getting the Clan together for some ownage would be fun. We are trying out some new characters on the Horde, and although there are a lot of cranky and foulmouthed power mongerer players on that faction (thank goodness for the profanity filter), we have managed to get a pretty decent little guild going. I know, kids and jobs and all, but if you guys are ever bored it would be fun to play for a bit. We need a healthy pool of tanks, rogues, shadow priests and shamans....

Anywho, this has been a long and rambling post. Hope all is well with you and yours. Peace. :D

In recent thoughts and plans:

Kabin anyone?

We were thinking sometime soon.

Roger says that May is best for him and Bonnie, everyone else that I have talked with has suggested June.

There is some division on clan family vs. non type trip as well. How 'bout a split? The womenfolk and youngins come up with us in the morning, then travel back when the nerdiness reaches critical mass?

Thoughts?

Moving!

We are moving back to the burning South for the short time that remains to us before medical school. We will be moving on the 3rd of May. This is not a personal vendetta against living here in the north, nor is it some sort of cruel act we are imposing on those who live in Stgeorge. Remember: Happy Wife, Happy Life. She is going to live where I need to for the next... um, millennia, so it is the least I could do.

We should gather the northern branch of the clan before loss of contact. I propose Curtis' place? (mine is a little more central, but also very box-filled.)

Free Money

I posted this on my blog a couple months ago, but seeing as how few of you knew of its existence, I figured you might want to know about this:

Seeing as many of my friends and family members are recently married, I think the following link will quite.. rewarding.

https://diamondsclassaction.com/

De Beers had a class action lawsuit brought against them for artificially inflating the prices of diamonds. They were just found guilty. ANYONE that purchased ANY thing with diamonds (rings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc…) from Jan 1 1994 -> March 31 2006 is able to sign-up to be included in the payment. You did not have to buy your diamond from DeBeers nor does not have to be a DeBeers diamond. All you have to do is fill-out the form on the website by May 18 to get included. No receipts. (Now the rules say that they *may* come looking for proof of purchase, but I don’t see that happening.)

You won’t be getting back a ton of money, I think their website said the maximum payout for a $2000 diamond ring would be $640, but it is something. Also, while they are slicing up $270 million dollars… the more people that sign-up the less money that each person will get.

I’m all signed-up! You should be too!
